Find Out More About The Fascinating Musical Performance Tapestry

WHAT TYPES OF GIGS DOES THIS MUSICAL CHAMELEON LIKE?

With over 165 gigs a year these past few years, one can only guess how blessed this multi-faceted man must feel: to be working at his first love, making music. Meaningful, too, is that his music performances capture the hearts of audience members and fellow musicians alike. Once they've heard him, people can be seen pondering his performance. Then, when they later learn of the height and depth of his musical instruction, it becomes obvious why Dennis has been dubbed, "a master musician", "a musician's musician", "a precision musician", "one of Cleveland's premier musicians" and one of the "Local Legends of rock 'n' roll" (named by his peers i.e., on website www.esquirerecords.com). He's really relishing the increased interest, too... for example...

MUSIC FOR THAT ENDLESS SUMMER FEELING

Area audiences always ask about him. He's familiar to folks from either performing in concert as a solo artist or from guesting in several popular local groups. The Summer of '02 finished up to be as much fun as the previous year was. Why? Dennis was delightfully busy playing with his band, "The Stratophonics". After hearing the Stratophonics, Eastlake Mayor Dan DiLiberto asked Dennis to "help build a classic car cruise in Eastlake")...

Why did Dennis do that Eastlake gig for those particular 3 summers? Partially because Dennis, as a Eastlake North High graduate, found it to be a homecoming, of sorts. Lots of old friendhsips were rekindled. With that explained, one can see how generous the band was to go along with the $ program, so to speak. All in the band are made to feel proud whenever fans fondly recall those early days of the Eastlake cruise. Among the many accolades is this one bestowed upon them by Mayor Dan DiLiberto, "The Eastlake cruise was voted by Cruisin' Times Magazine readers as one of The Biggest (upwards of 1600 classic cars weekly) and The Best. That's thanks to "Dennis Chandler & The Stratophonics", who helped build this cruise into, not only the best around for cruisers, but for others, too, because they entertained everyone!".

"That's Edu-tainment!"

Deep feeling is something Dennis enjoys, in whatever he does musically and at all gigs, big or small. Plus, it pleases him that his living-room-learning-format he utilizes (to give a little history behind some of the hits-from-the-past that he plays)... goes over so well. For example, for the past 10 years, he has been doing his "Blues in the Schools" series of concerts from inner city to outer suburb, teaching children where the music of today came from: yesterday's blues. Now "Professor Dennis", this student-turned-master, gets to pass the music on. Music, that he was taught firsthand in the time-honored oral tradition and by the bluesmasters, themselves. (You can read about Dennis' first guitar teachers, Bo Diddley and B.B. King in his longer Bio.)

PLAYING IN 2 BANDS AND SITTING IN WITH ANOTHER 2 MAKES FOR A BUSY BACKUP BEAVER

Besides being in his "Stratophonics" band and guesting with other bands, and perhaps because he was named one of the "Local Legends of Rock 'n' Roll", (serving as their Music Director at times, too)... has only serviced to add to demand for Dennis' musical services.

Plus...DC'S BAACCKKK BACKING UP BARITONES like the talented WEB FLEMING .
He has Dennis doing double duty as his accompanist on occasion, too. Look out for where and when they perform their brand of Roots Rock 'n' Blues with some Chinese thrown in, too. (Check out the longer Bio to "translate" what that means).

GODDARD'S GO-TO-GUY

Dennis is doing another really interesting musical project with friend and popular media legend Dick Goddard. Some past projects included doing telethons together i.e, for M.D.A., etc., plus for the past 27 years, DC, along with his band, "The Stratophonics", has hosted the meteorologist's popular Vermilion Woollybear Festival Party. (Another gig that Dick was responsible for and where Dennis was again the only musician invited to play: was when Dick got married. Dennis said "Being the musical part of his wedding ceremony proved to be one of the more interesting of Goddard's gigs!")

But, another musical project, Goddard's C.D., a sort of "Songs for All Seasons" was actually thought of waayyy back, twenty years ago! It began when Dennis and his brother-in-law, Phil Smoluk wrote "The Woollybear Song" aka "Woolly, Me and You" for their mutual media friend, Dale Solly. They all met when Phil aka Phil Phabeetz (dubbed by TV8 Horror Movie Hosts Big Chuck & 'lil John) played on their TV8 Sports Team. Dale, then a reporter and anchor for TV8 was also a musician that booked out with DC as a duo and also played with "The Stratophonics". It was during the early years of Goddard's Woollybear Festival that the idea of a Woollybear Song was hatched. Dale's beautiful rendition was captured on a 45 recording and although in limited release, it raised alot of money for one of Dick's animal charities. Sad to say, Dale Solly passed away suddenly in May of '02.

STAY TUNED TO SEE IF "DICK & DENNIS" GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER AND TAKE IT ON THE ROAD

Look for the dynamic duo od Dick & Dennis to make some good melodic music together. Watch for them on the web or as they say in TV... "Stay tuned to Fox8". Seriously, (taking tongue out of cheek), his fans are bowled over with how well Dick Goddard can deliver vocally as a singer, too.

THIS COULD BE THE START OF SOMETHING GRAND... Or... WHAT'LL THE BOYS IN THE BACK HAVE?

Music, Music, Music...Good Melodic Music... if the owner of "Chester's Restaurant", gets his way. A happenin' spot is this popular East Cleveland landmark eatery whose spectacular dining room is across the street from the annual, traditional Christmas lighting destination, Nela Park. . "Music, Music, Music, Good Melodic Music" seems to becoming a Mantra of sorts and it's shared by not only those making the music but also by those enjoying the music, too. Look on the Calendar Page for when Dennis does his thing at "Chester's" playing solo piano or at special events with the The Stratophonics.

Soooo... be sure to go to the CALENDAR page and CLICK RIGHT ON THE DATE to get ALL the info on that day's events.
